Curfews, Beanies & Date Nights: Student Life at NSU
August 21 @ 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

For our September Lunchtime Lagniappe program, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum will welcome local historian Kevin Shanahan for a look at how student life on “Normal Hill” has changed since Captain Caspari helped found the Louisiana State Normal School in 1884. Sparingly granted “date nights,” freshman beanies and shaved heads, strict curfews, and a dorm mother who was a former matron at the Louisiana State Penitentiary for Women were all part of campus life over the years. Join us for a lighthearted—and occasionally serious—look at student life at Northwestern State through the generations. This event is free and open to the public. 800 Front Street, Natchitoches.
