DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this tour is to familiarize visitors with some of the notable people from the area buried in the American Cemetery\, the oldest cemetery in Natchitoches. Over the years\, planters\, businessman\, politicians\, and educators have all made their mark on Natchitoches and the surrounding area. The markers in the cemetery tell stories of the region’s people and act as an outdoor museum dedicated to their legacy. \nFree and open to the public. The tour starts at the American Cemetery\, 2nd Street entrance\, next to Holy Cross Church. The tour lasts 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Weather and Staff Permitting.

DESCRIPTION:The second LSMSA Exploration Day of the Fall ’24 semester is planned for Friday\, Dec. 6\, 2024. Exploration Days are an excellent opportunity to get a first-hand look at what LSMSA is all about. During these Open House events\, prospective students sit in on classes while their parents hear from the school’s administration. Parents and students tour the campus\, meet current LSMSA students\, and have lunch in the dining hall. Exploration Days generally begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude around 2:00 p.m. LSMSA will provide a letter for students to take to their schools confirming their attendance. There is no charge to attend an Exploration Day. \n\nWho should attend? We encourage students who are currently in the eighth grade or higher to attend an Exploration Day\, along with their parents or guardians. Students who are younger than eighth grade who are traveling with their older sibling may attend; however\, they should accompany their parents to parent activities. We invite you to join us at the depot from 9 am to 3:30 pm to celebrate. There will be train themed crafts\, games\, and activities for children of all ages. Earn your Junior Ranger Railroad Explorer Depot badge. In addition to the activities at the depot\, visitors will have the opportunity to view the new outdoor exhibits and the new park orientation film. Several temporary exhibits will be displayed in the depot.

Over the years\, planters\, businessman\, politicians\, and educators have all made their mark on Natchitoches and the surrounding area. The markers in the cemetery tell stories of the region’s people and act as an outdoor museum dedicated to their legacy. \nFree and open to the public. The tour starts at the American Cemetery\, 2nd Street entrance\, next to Holy Cross Church. The tour lasts 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Weather and Staff Permitting.
