DESCRIPTION:The Burt Clark Foundation’s RunForBurt 5K Run/Walk Fundraiser is in memory of Natchitoches native Burt Clark\, a devoted husband\, father\, grandfather\, brother\, friend and citizen. Burt was an avid runner and cyclist who tragically transitioned this life way too soon. Burt was committed to encouraging\, inspiring\, and motivating everyone he met to engage in a more active and healthier lifestyle anchored in fitness.  Burt didn’t just encourage others\, he led by example participating in numerous events annually\, including the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race\, Calloway Gardens Triathlon/Duathlon and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Beta Lambda Lambda Chapter’s 5K/10K event.  Burt passionately believed everyone should “get up and move” regardless of age\, gender\, physical ability\, or socioeconomic standing.  \nThe Burt Clark Foundation will continue Burt’s passion for inspiring and motivating healthier lifestyle choices\, and through your generous donations and proceeds from BCF events will award two college scholarships annually to deserving high school seniors graduating from Burt’s high school alma mater Natchitoches Central High School or that will be attending Burt’s college alma mater Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge\, Louisiana. \nThis Annual RunForBurt 5K Run/Walk fundraiser event will take place at the Historical Downtown Natchitoches River Bank on Saturday October 14\, 2023. SUMMARY:Restoration through Art: Watercolor class
DESCRIPTION:With the lush tree lines and fields that surround Melrose\, there is no shortage of beautiful landscapes. Students will be taught three basic watercolor techniques: wet on dry\, wet on wet one color\, and wet on wet two color. These will then be applied to a landscape painting. The only drawing involved will be a simple horizon line across the paper! The rest is painting magic. Students will have a choice of sunny or stormy skies and will be instructed how to achieve each. \nThe class is from 5PM to 7PM\, and will take place at Lemee House\, 310 Jefferson St.\, Natchitoches\, LA 71457. APHN will provide all supplies for the class. The class is suitable for ages 12 and up. (Minors must have an adult present.) The front doors of Lemee will open for students at 4:45PM. \nCheryl Gianforte is the guest artist who will be teaching the class.
