About

If you’re thinking of bringing your pet on a trip to Natchitoches, there are plenty of accommodations to make them feel welcome. Best Western, Days Inn, Hampton Inn, Motel 6, Relax Inn and Super 8 are all pet friendly. If you’d prefer to stay in a Bed and Breakfast, the Elizabeth Lane Guesthouse, Jefferson House, The Parsonage, Rusca House, Starlight Plantation, The Cabins of Horseshoe Hills Ranch, and the Downtown Guest House are pet friendly as well.

Natchitoches has a selection of outdoor dining options if you’d like your pet to join you for dinner. Maglieaux’s, Mama’s Oyster House, Cane River Commissary and Magee’s have outdoor dining areas or patios. You can also consider placing a to-go order from any of our restaurants and enjoying a waterside picnic under the Front Street Pavillion. While you’re there, make sure to check out the Beau Jardin Garden & Water Feature and the historic Roque House.

There are plenty of ways to get outside and explore Natchitoches with your pet. Parc Natchitoches and Northwestern State University both have walking trails. If you’re feeling adventurous, the Grady Erwin Nature Area has three hiking trails. You can also take a short drive over to Kisatchie National Forest to spend the day hiking or camping. If you’re looking for an activity that’s kid friendly as well, Pierson and Mallett Park is a great place to spend an afternoon.

Other pet-friendly activities include a tour by foot or carriage or exploring our outdoor attractions like the Cane River Creole National Historical Park. Many downtown shops also cater to pets offering water bowls at the entrances.

You can also bring your pet by the Natchitoches Visitor Center at 780 Front Street Suite 100 for water and a treat.
