The Cane River Commissary is located downriver in the heart of Creole country. In a building that once housed a school, then a store next to the Lambre Cotton Gin, you’ll find locals and visitors alike who come to pass a good time. Traditional Creole and cajun dishes are on the menu as well as the Natchitoches staple, a meat pie plate. The meat pies are made in-house from owner, Syliva Lacour’s grandmother’s passed-down recipe.
The Cane River Commissary has made national news with their growing Zydeco Breakfast. Live music, specialty drinks and dishes are not the only thing special about the second Saturday morning of every month. It’s the people, the environment and the cultural experience that will make you come back.
