Magnolia Plantation has 20 historic buildings remaining, including the plantation store, overseer’s house/hospital, blacksmith shop, eight slave/tenant cabins, and gin barn. The main house is still privately owned and is not open to the public. The historic property is a National Bicentennial Farm, only one of two such farms west of the Mississippi River, both of which are in Natchitoches Parish. A unit of Cane River Creole National Historical Park, Magnolia was acquired by the National Park Service in 1996. Open 9 AM to 3:30 PM daily except federal holidays. Self guided tours are available. Free admission.
