A Queen Anne center hall one-story Victorian cottage built in the 1890’s as a wedding gift by Estelle Ducournau Plauché for her niece, Green Gables remained in the hands of two families for her first 100 years. After being restored back to her original grandeur including ornate fireplaces, twelve foot ceilings, stained glass windows, and a wrap-around front gallery, she opened her doors to B&B guests. 18th and 19th century French and American antiques decorate her rooms. And original art by B&B host, painter, and sculptor adorns her walls. Dr. Kollar divides his time between Natchitoches and Taos, New Mexico. Inn guests are delighted to find out that many of his works are for sale.
Choose the Victorian romance of a 19th century guest room or the private intimacy of Camellia Cottage. The Gallery Room has its own private entrance from the front gallery and a private bath with shower. The Wooden Shutter Room at the end of the central hall has a private bath with a tub / shower. If you follow the camellia-lined driveway back through the tropical New Orleans-style courtyard, you will find Camellia Cottage, a romantic retreat complete with an inviting fireplace, kitchenette, living room, bedroom, and full bath. There are no televisions to disturb your privacy.
You can book the entire property for “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Getaways.” Two couples visiting Natchitoches together? Book the two rooms in the main house for total privacy.
